The West Africa region includes 16 states which achieved the independence during the period from the end of 1950th up to the end of 1970th. Among this states:

4 countries – former English colonies (here is indicated the date of independence):
Gambia The: 18.02.1965
Ghana: 06.03.1957
Nigeria: 01.10.1960
Sierra Leone: 27.04.1961

2 countries – former Portuguese colonies (here is indicated the date of independence):
Guinea-Bissau: 24.09.1974
Cape Verde: 05.07.1975

1 country – Liberia – state which was created by black American settler who proclaimed independence of Republic of Liberia in 1847.
